The Color Club Workshops: Red

$225.00

$225

Sundays 12/8 and 12/15
10-2PM

What comes to mind when you think of the color red?

Love? Anger? Hate? Passion?

Red is certainly the boldest color we can use as artists. It immediately pops out, drawing all eyes to itself. Even if it only exists as a small shape, it is hard not to look at red first.

Spread out over two Sundays, the first day will be be all about understanding Red as a color:

  • its cultural and psychological impact, as well as its use in art

  • what the unique visual and working properties are of the reds you already own; no special colors needed!

  • how reds mix with other colors on your palette, and how to select the best red for the job

By the end of the day you’ll be equipped with tools to make informed choices when selecting colors, and specifically how to use our good friend Red to make powerful art. On the second day you will be able to work from life with a clothed model to put all that information to work.

As a bonus, we will be able to spend some time taking photos of our model to either complete the painting, or you can direct her poses for your own red-inspired painting.

This is the first in a series devoted to learning color theory in a practical manner.
