w/Alex Martinez
Thursdays 1/15/2026 - 4/2/26
7-9:30PM @ 202 Park St
Building upon the prerequisite Foundational Drawing course, this intermediate-level class deepens students’ technical and observational skills through a structured progression of lessons. Beginning with still life drawing from observation, students will refine their ability to analyze and render form, proportion, and spatial relationships. The course then advances to portrait drawing, where learners apply structural principles to the complexities of the human face.
Through guided practice, students will:
• Strengthen their understanding of structural drawing and compositional design
• Explore the anatomy of light to create convincing value and depth
• Develop technical proficiency with charcoal and graphite
• Build confidence in drawing from life, translating observation into expressive, accurate works.
By the end of the course, students will emerge with greater assurance in their draftsmanship, a deeper grasp of light and structure, and the ability to approach both still life and portrait subjects with clarity and creativity.
